Where our data comes from
Every plan, rebate and promotion on HouseholdBills records its source, when we captured it and when we last checked it. These are the sources we use now.
| Source | Type | How often we check | Last successful check | Current plans |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Energy plans: Consumer Data Right (AER) Generic plan information that energy retailers must publish under the Consumer Data Right. Prices are published exclusive of GST; HouseholdBills adds GST to supply and usage charges. | Regulator data | Daily | 6 October 2026 | 11,713 |
| Administrator entry Plans and prices entered by a HouseholdBills data administrator. Each must name the page it was checked against. | Entered by our data team | When updated | Not yet run | 0 |
| CSV upload Spreadsheets uploaded in Admin, Imports. Every row is validated and reviewed before publishing. | Imported file | When updated | Not yet run | 0 |
| JSON upload JSON files or partner payloads uploaded in Admin, Imports. | Imported file | When updated | Not yet run | 0 |
How data is checked
Imported data is validated before anything is published: provider, state, postcodes, prices, dates and links are checked, duplicates are caught, and any price that moves more than a set percentage is held for a person to review. If a source fails, the last good data stays in place and is marked with its last checked date. Old prices are never overwritten; they become history.
Internet performance figures, where shown, carry their own source and measurement date. The ACCC's Measuring Broadband Australia program ended in June 2026, so we do not present older ACCC results as current.
